Welcome to the new HING website
The Hidden Impairment National Group has, since 2010 had a significant impact through the development of the ‘Uncovering Hidden Impairment Toolkit’. The toolkit is available through all DWP services and has been made available to many key national businesses. Our aim is to help support organisations to better understand how to effectively work with and employ individuals with Hidden Impairments.
The initial phase of work was completed in late 2013. In 2014/ 2015 the group has been working alongside government departments to refresh the work of HING and move to a cross governmental approach. We are now at a stage where we are looking at reforming HING to bring together a wider group of organisations to help us achieve our aim.
This move has seen Autism Plus take over chair position of HING and opened up membership to a wide range of organisations.
HING is working closely with government departments to align common approaches to working with and supporting individuals with Hidden Impairments.
HING will be working closely with our newly formed board to bring together good practice and share experiences with the organisations we are supporting.

"As a disabled jobseeker with a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), one of the barriers I have faced is a lack of understanding from employers regarding my condition. I am hopeful that the promotion and awareness of this toolkit will help staff and managers achieve greater insight and knowledge into the hidden impairment agenda; creating more inclusive workplaces for individuals with disabilities."Diana Foster (Voluntary Coordinator / Jobseeker)
“As a member of the Hidden Impairment National Group, I am eager to share this practical learning and development resource with the widest possible audience, including Public and Private Sector organisations. I am hopeful that this will help organisations to realise the potential of people with Hidden Impairments and will improve the recruitment and retention rates for many skilled and talented people.”Amanda Wadsworth (MBE Chair of HING) – DWP Strategy Disability Directorate
